Fashion with a Mission from STATE Bags

A cool look for a great cause!

When it comes time for dad to take out the baby, there’s a tendency to avoid handling the diaper bag. After all, what dad wants to be seen with a foo foo diaper bag? Luckily these days, diaper bags look a lot less like purses and more like everyday totes and backpacks. And that’s part of why we couldn’t resist the STATE Bags collection.

Together with STATE Bags, we created a bundle that dads (and moms) will adore – and it’s a giggle exclusive! It starts out with a cool looking backpack (either the Bedford or the Lorimer — hello Brooklyn!). It includes a diaper bag that folds compactly to fit inside the backpack and can hold a couple bottle, diapers, wipes, and more. A changing pad is also included and tucks right into the backpack’s laptop insert. Together, this trio forms a genius diaper bag that’s in stealth mode. And even after your baby’s outgrown the diaper phase, you can use the backpack for carrying just about anything – or hand it off to your child for their first years of school.

We mentioned that we couldn’t resist this bag’s looks and clever features, but what’s even more important to us, is STATE Bags’ mission. For every bag purchased, another bag is given to an American child in need. If you’ve ever bought a pair of Toms or Warby Parkers, you’re already familiar with the “buy one, give one” model. So far, they’ve donated more than 1,000 bags to charities across America.

The founders behind STATE Bags truly believe in their mission. In fact, before they were even selling bags, they had a camp where kids from Brooklyn’s most turbulent neighborhoods had a chance to get out of the city and into the fresh air for a week. When they noticed kids didn’t have bags and other basics, they extended their mission. Creating bags with a mission was a no-brainer.

But it’s more than simply giving bags and other essentials to those who need it. There’s a bag drop experience when bags are given out. STATE Bags hosts events where PackMen/Women who have come through similar situations provide motivation and a general positive feeling at pep rallies that leave kids with a renewed spirit to believe in themselves. It’s an amazing mission that continues to inspire.
