Strollers Perfect for City Living

Expert-recommended strollers to help you navigate busy urban life.

I had the privilege of exploring the LA Baby Expo recently and sat in on a session by Jamie Grayson (The BabyGuyNYC) on What You Really Need To Know About Shopping For Baby. In his deeply knowledgeable and entertaining style, the beloved baby gear expert shared many tricks and tips when searching for baby gear. I was especially impressed with his knowledge of strollers.

When asked about the best strollers for urban/apartment living he said the most important features to look for are weight and spatial footprint. When you live in the city, your stroller has to be able to go up and down stairs, fit in a small hall closet and have a tiny footprint when eating at restaurants. When carrying a stroller through the subway or up and down apartment stairs, weight is a factor. The lighter the better. Strollers that can stand upright or even stash under your chair at your local cafe will win you major points with the waitstaff (not to mention fellow diners).

Here’s a few recommended strollers to make city navigation a breeze:

Babyzen YOYO

Weighing in at about 14 lbs., this lightweight and compact stroller is designed for those families that are on the go and love to travel. Its compact fold allows this stroller to fit in an airline’s overhead compartment, and it’s airline-certified, so feel free to bring on board a plane as carry-on (no more stroller check-in). Even better? This truly becomes an all-in-one travel system, thanks to its ability to be used with a car seat. Plus, it has a new and improved 4-wheel suspension for when you’re ready to hit the road.

UPPAbaby G-Luxe

From 3 months to 55 lbs. this stroller will grow from baby to big kid. Weighing just 15 lbs. it folds in a cinch and can be toted along with it’s convenient carry strap. Plus, it has smart adjustability, offering three recline options from upright to 120 degrees, making it easy to keep your little one comfortable at all times. Best part of all it stands upright when folded!

QB Pockit

Recognized as the world’s smallest folding stroller by Guinness World Records, the QB Pockit folds to a handbag size, so you can carry it, stow it under a seat or in an airplane overhead bin with ease. Weighing in at only 9.5 lbs., it is also easy to maneuver through busy city streets and shops. Removable, washable padding is included for comfort and convenience. In addition, the height-adjustable harness will grow with your child through toddlerhood.
