Fun in the Sun!

Get Outdoors

Our son Devon was born in October, so we didn’t get to enjoy the nice weather for too long before winter arrived. We’ve been cooped up all season and we can’t wait for the sunny days ahead. Being a first time mom, I had anxiety about transitioning my baby into the warmer seasons. But I’ve learned it’s easy, all you need is to be prepared. Here are some tips and diaper-bag-essentials for getting out.

Protecting your baby from the sun is important. At 6 months, babies should start wearing sun protection. I love giggle’s sunscreen, it’s great for baby’s with sensitive skin. It’s 45 SPF, nanoparticle-free, and hypoallergenic.

Sunglasses and a hat not only make cute accessories, but they’re good additional forms of sun protection. The Tea Winkipop Reversible Sun Hat is made of swimwear material, so it is lightweight and it offers 40+ SPF protection too. It keeps the sun off your baby’s face and it’s an easy item to keep in your bag.

These polarized sunglasses from Babiator are so cute and stylish. I love using them when there isn’t shade in either the car or the stroller. They are great for protecting baby’s sensitive eyes from the harsh glares, and they are safer than putting a stroller cover on, which can cause overheating in the summer months. I love the convenient traveling case too, it clips on so you won’t have to dig around for them.

I love bringing my Bugaboo Bee stroller for a day out in the city. I find that baby-wearing can overheat my baby, and it’s also exhausting. The Bee glides and turns so effortlessly, and It’s easy to fold up. The adjustable handlebar is perfect for couple’s who are of different heights. They can extend or contract, to create a comfortable position for either me or my husband. Strollers also offer storage space to carry any essentials you need.

I love changing the style of my Bee with the Bugaboo canopy. The versatility makes it easy to swap out different colors based on how we’re feeling. The bright yellow transforms the look of my Bee and gives it a bright pop of color. The fabric is lightweight, but durable. It offers shade and protection from the elements, and it’s easy to attach and remove. I think it’s the perfect spring accessory.

The shift in spring weather can sometimes be drastic, so dress your baby in removable layers. I like layering with the basics like a hat, onesie, a cardigan, and booties. Also bring an extra onesie in case of blowouts! Bring a stroller blanket or a swaddle cloth. It comes in handy if it gets breezy and your baby needs an extra layer of warmth. It’s easy to pack away when not in use.
